Bikash Poddar, born 1958, in Kaliyaganj, North Bengal, took his Diploma in Applied Arts from the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata. Though he started working on his creative paintings from the very beginning, he had to work in various advertising firms as art director and chief designer for his living for several years before embarking on a career as a full time practicing artist, as the Indian art market had not opened up that time.
His solo show of water colours held in Delhi in early 1990s shot him up to fame. Since then he has conducted more than 20 solo shows all over India and participated in several group and traveling shows with works in major collections.
The artist based in Delhi loves to work on paper using watercolour as his favorite medium
