| | Asit Kumar Patnaik, M.F.A. in painting (gold medalist) from B.H..U., Varanasi. National Cultural Scholarship 1991 to 1993 & Junior fellow ship 1995 to 1997 from M.H.R.D. Dept. of Culture, Govt of India. Asit Kumar Patnaik was awarded : Gold medal-National Youth Festival, Silver medal-East zone Youth Festival, Shantiniketan 1991, Annual Art Exhibition, W.A.A., Varanasi 1994 All Orissa Fine Art Exhibition, lalit Kala Academy 1995 All U.P. Fine Art Exhibition, lalit Kala Academy Lucknow 1997 Panth Ratan Dr. Inderjit Singh Award, B.O.P. Chandigarh 2000. He participates in Various Stata & National Level Art Exhibtions organised by lalit Kala Academy of Orissa, U.P. Rajasthan, Nagpur, Amritsar, Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata: AIFACS including National Exhibition of Contemporary Art.
A semi realistic figurative painter, Patnaik has had a highly decorated and critically acclaimed career. He has been a National Scholarship awardee and MFA topper from BHU, subsequently held a Junior Fellowship from MHRD, Govt. of India and bagged numerous provincial and national awards. Best known for his “Relations” series that revolves around a semi-clad male and female figure captured in a series of complex , multiple and open ended postures, Patnaik has graced several solo and major group shows in India and abroad. He had two very successful shows in Singapore and Dubai earlier this year and been part of a select group of artistes invited by the President of India to participate in a special exhibition held at the Marble Hall in the Rashtrapati Bhawan as part of the Republic Day celebrations. Patnaik’s works could be found in several famous private and public collections in India, USA, UK, South Korea, UAE, Australia, Bangladesh South Africa and Switzerland, including that of the President of India. | | | |
